How can I have missed that book? I just love album quilts - especially those with less formality and more quirk! Your little boot/flower block is gorgeous.
Thanks so much Jan...guess who's zooming over to Book Depository right now? K

These quirky quilts are among my favorites. Gwen Marston refers to them as random samplers :)

I have that book and look at it often. I've read it twice as I've learned a lot of US history (I'm from Canada)through books like these. Love the shoe, its one of my favorite blocks.

I am saving orphan blocks to make my own someday.........hope to add an eagle and there will be my sampler quilt. It's a great book. Look forward to seeing your quilt.

I recently purchased that particular book and am very intrigued with them. Some of the members of my prim style Yahoo group are making versions of the quilts as a year long project.

Marisa

I love this book but have not made anything from it yet. You're giving me the inspiration to try something small. Nice choice of where to start.

Janet

I love those old samplers so I bought that same book awhile ago and it is a great book. I love your shoe block a lot.

Wow -- I've never seen that book -- what a find! That little block is adorable -- is this the start of a quilt?
