The upside of cleaning out is finding wonderful, long forgotten items that have been buried deep in closets. Something like thifting in the comfort of your own home! I vaguely recall buying this vintage cotton at a quilt festival years ago, but coming across it was a nice surprise. Needless to say, it was quickly put on the *keep* shelf, no deliberation necessary!
Finally it looks like summer may be around the corner. With the warm weather comes a change in snack tastes and when my kids were were little, I used to make these popsicles all the time. They weren't big milk drinkers so this was one way to get some calcium into them. Molly recently asked me to send her the recipe so I thought I'd share it here...easy to make and delicious. In fact, now that I'm writing about them, I may have to make some for myself this week.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Popsicles
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 4 oz. plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 TBLSP chocolate sauce (I use Hershey's)
- 2 TLSP sugar
Combine peanut butter and yogurt. Slowly blend in milk, then chocolate sauce and sugar, mixing well. Pour into popsicle molds, seal and freeze. Makes 6.
The forecast for the weekend is warm and sunny, perfect weather for our final post-winter yard cleanup and maybe some new plantings to spruce up the place. (Curb appeal, curb appeal, curb appeal.) I hope you all have a warm and sunny weekend, too. We deserve it after the last few months, don't we?
**Added later: If you like the popsicle fabric, check out the cute dress that Erin made and wrote about recently. Thanks for the link, Beth!

Thanks for sharing the popsicle fabric and recipe. My kids are popsicle fiends, so this treat comes just in time :-)

Oh WOW! What wonderful fabric. Am amazed at the dress...had forgotten that people actually still sew clothing rather than quilts!! So that's what you do with your extra quilting fabrics!

YAY, thanks! About how much is 4 oz. of yogurt, pray tell? The measurements here are different. If you could tell how many little single packs that is or about how much cup-wise, I'd appreciate it. I have all the ingredients at home now, I can't wait to make them!

These look SOO good! Do you think they would hold up if the milk and yogurt were substituted for soy milk and yogurt? I guess it is worth a try...
Thanks for sharing, J!!

I love that fabric! I hope all the prepping for the move isn't too hard on you. I mean, I know it's a strain, but def. be suree to take time for yourself (maybe making more blocks!).

Hi there, I'm usually a lurker, but I had to thank you for the popsicle recipe! I made them right after visiting your blog on Saturday. They came out great, and my kids loved them.
I also put some in my ice cream freezer (I made a double batch) and added some chopped bittersweet chocolate at the end of the freezing time. Voila--a PB dessert for grown-ups, too! Thanks again.
