Later that day...

Now the first post is out of the way and I’m up and running, so to speak.   I’ve been talking about starting a blog for months, but it was always one thing or another.  I finally realized that it will always be one thing or another so I resisted the urge to tweak the site anymore and just posted. 

The blog world revealed itself to me about a year and a half ago when I somehow stumbled onto a knitter’s site.  One click led to another and I was soon bookmarking favorites and visiting regularly.  I started knitting again…felted bags, scarves, a sweater.   It was so motivating!  I eventually started leaving comments, then emailing with several knitters.  But being a commenter feels like watching a party through a window.  Someone might occasionally see you there and wave, but it’s not the same as being inside. 

I hesitated, though, because I am just a casual knitter.  Oh, I’ve made some Booga bags, a multidirectional scarf, a sock (yes, a sock…several times), a Caryl’s Kerchief and a top down raglan pullover.  I even have the pieces of a Peace Fleece Everyday Cardi stuffed in a bag around here somewhere, waiting to be blocked.  But I didn’t have much to say about my projects other than ‘me, too’.

I’m really a quilter.   A longtime quilter who does a little of everything but would like to be more focused.  Over the last few years, I’ve been flitting from one thing to another and have accumulated a large inventory of WIPs, none of which represents the direction in which I’d like to be moving (though each has its own separate appeal).

Now that quilters are popping up here and there, often with some knitting content, I’ve decided to jump in.  I want this to be a place where I can organize and share my ongoing projects and interests.  I want to join the conversation!

And even if I end up talking to myself here, I think this will be of some value.

Hmmm…now to figure out how to post a photo.
