After a year plus of planning, K & H's wedding week has arrived and we are preparing to leave tomorrow for South Carolina. This wasn't the post that I had planned for today, but that will have to wait until I return. I'm a bit rushed here now. Mother Nature interfered with my plans and after a quick but fierce storm Friday evening, we were left without electricity for 24 hours. Which means that despite my determination to have my travel prep completed early (for once), today I'm doing washes, ironing and baking. Yes, baking. It's a beach vacation, too, and whoopie pies are required!!
It's Father's Day today, M's 30th as a dad. While we finish up our packing, we're anticipating our first child's wedding...and seeing our extended family, all of whom are making the trip from across the country to celebrate with us. Unfortunately, our dear Japanese friends, K's host family from his college years, had to cancel their plans to join us at the last minute, due to a death in the family. But Molly and her boyfriend will be arriving from Tokyo on Tuesday. We can hardly wait.
As if that's not all enough, today's the first day of summer...June 21, our anniversary. We have been blessed with a wonderful family, a wonderful life. So many good memories and many more to be made this week.
Wishing you all a happy Father's Day, and a relaxing first week of summer! I've got to dash...but I'll be back before you know it.
