It sounded like such a good idea when I decided this would be a reward project. Despite my best intentions, there has been no rationing of time to work on it. Instead, it's been pulling me into the sewing room like a magnet to fiddle around with new color/print combos. *Just one more block* has turned into six more.
So, so much fun! However, other things with deadlines beckon, so I had to take these off the board today just to move them out of sight for the time being. *I'll be back...*
I've been spending a good amount of time recently checking out local quilt shops in search of a border fabric for another project. In my browsing, I came across the new Judie Rothermel group, Indigo, Pewter & Honey. I'd seen it online, where photos portray the light prints as a mustard-y color. However, they are actually the most delicious yellow-greens and since I know a bunch of you make reproduction quilts, I had to try to show you the actual colors.
That's closer, but still doesn't quite capture it. Take my word for it, this is a wonderful line. If you like that *different* color to spark your quilt, this group would provide it.
Veering off track again, just a few steps. Is it spring fever? I've been playing around with this little project this morning. And I'm still waiting for that back-ordered yarn. I may have to alter my plans a bit and just go ahead with the colors that arrived a few weeks ago. Lots brewing around here!

Gumdrops! I want more gumdrops!

Oooh, your blocks are wonderful, Jan! Love them--they are just so much fun. Instead of gumdrops, I will think of them like the Lifesavers jelly beans I've been gorging on...fantastic colors and flavors. :-) Spring fever is intense this year!

Gumdrops--what a great name for those blocks. The cuteness is just about overwhelming. But don't get me wrong--there is edge too. It's a just-about perfect combo of sweet and sassy..

I love doing a quilt that gets you so excited, you can't stop doing them. I love the blocks so much, are we allowed to be a copy cat?
Thanks for showing the fabrics too, I love the yellows.

Lovely gum drops - i love the unexpected colour combos that you find in many japanese quilts as well. And somehow there's a 1950s feel to the colours too.
And that yummy last picture makes me even more sure that thereis a red and aqua quilt in my future, and I see that I need to stock up on pink as well ;-)

I have to go up to the quilt store to see if they have any, I want to see them. You were just the boost I needed today to get me excited, guess that's why I love reading your blog! This always happens!

I love your color combinations! We're having a good time visiting the family in chicago this week but it's such a short trip I don't have any time for quilting or quilt shopping. I'm planning to come back for 2 weeks in June though, so I'd like to hear about the shops you found and maybe check them out then. If I remember, I'll try to email you closer to the trip.
