I thought I'd have so much time over the past two weeks to check off the last things on my *while living in the city* to-do list, but days got eaten up, mostly with house related issues, and as a result, some unexplored items remain. Which is probably a good thing. I tend to quickly settle into routines but having this uncompleted list will, I hope, prompt me to get back into the city soon and regularly.
We closed on the house on Friday and spent all of today there, cleaning things up and unpacking some of our things that we brought from the apartment. Some of you have asked about the new place. I'll share a bit over the next few weeks, but here's a little peek. I wanted a place with a yard where I could have a garden again. Instead, I got a yard that is a garden!
Walking around it this afternoon, I stopped counting at 52 hostas. It needs a good bit of trimming (and trimming back) but it is lovely to look at. And private, a rare feature in these close-to-the-city towns. We feel that this house may be the best fit of all of the places we've owned. Time will tell.
Tomorrow we'll return with the last of our things from the apartment (including the computer...going dark for a few days!) Then early Monday morning we'll turn in our apartment keys and parking passes and leave the city to meet the moving van at our new place. Two years. It's been two years from when we first got wind of this possible move. So many thoughts about the positives and negatives of this long saga...but not tonight.
I'm sooo tired tonight. And now heading to sleep, hoping to keep my eyes open for a few minutes before dropping off, to enjoy the view from our bed...perhaps the thing I'll miss the most from our time in the city this summer.
Well, that and the maid. Heh.
