Glorious color
1,400 plus miles round trip in a car in 6 days might not seem like a relaxing getaway, but it was. We might have flown, but we had a stop to make on the way to Massachusetts and it all worked out perfectly. The event we traveled to was a wedding, the first of our nieces and nephews. It was lovely in every way. Just like the bride.
The rehearsal dinner was held here in Stockbridge. A perfect setting on a late spring evening. Happy couple surrounded by happy family and friends. Exquisite hors d'oeuvres.
The wedding day dawned overcast and as the late afternoon nuptials approached, a light mist began to fall. It did nothing to dampen the occasion. The ceremony location was hastily moved from the lawn to canopied terrace, the monsignor and the rabbi took their places and the harpist nimbly plucked. *I do*s were exchanged and the rest of the evening was a happy blur of poignant toasts, lots of laughter and, now, happy memories. It all passed too quickly.
The wedding was perfection in its design. The bride's gown and attendants' outfits were simple and elegant yet the event was punctuated by gorgeous color.
Now the newlyweds are off to start a happy life together and I'm back in the heartland. The realtor is coming this afternoon to take photos of the house so I'm dashing off to finetune some staging. Once the house is listed in a couple of days, I should have nothing more to do than get back to all of my projects. Right.

The candy bar is a wonderful idea - how neat! And I love all the colorful flowers, too.

I am the world's biggest sap for weddings, and this one looked elegant and so personalized. Thanks for inviting me along. (But couldn't you give us a picture of the happy couple?)

I love the bright single-color ball floral arrangements and the matching cakes. So simple, yet so much impact!

What a lovely wedding! I love the candy bar- so colorful and cheerful.
I bet your house will sell very quickly and before you know it, the packing will begin. :)
Good luck!
By the way, I'm reading a book and keep thinking that you would enjoy it. It's called "Plum Wine: A Novel" by Angela Davis-Gardner. It's set in the '60's in Japan.

Candy Bar? Terribly cute word play. Mouth-watering presentation... oh, to be young and able to stuff the ol' cheeks with sugar. I have scads of those gallon jars... I'm off to cram them full of sock yarn or something, just till the candy-craving wears off. Your post was exquisite, as usual. Thank you again for the EYE candy! Glad the week is wearing you well... enjoy. Cami

A candy bar? Oh my! Haven't heard of that before, but methinks that's a great idea for a little girl's birthday party!! Thanks Jan - glad you had a good trip, despite the miles!

Lovely. Just lovely. Those flower balls look like real-life versions of M. Stewart's tissue paper pom-poms.
