I was going to write a post this week reflecting on the past year...what got accomplished, what didn't, hopes and plans for the coming months. Instead, like my actual week, I've decided to clean up a bit and take care of something that's fallen through the cracks recently. Mostly, I'd like to thank you all for stopping by. When I occasionally peek into my stats, I continue to be amazed to see how many of you are checking in from the far (and near) corners of the world. Your comments have been so kind and although I've been terrible about responding to them over the last few weeks, I read and appreciate each and every one. And plan to get my act together now that the holidays, for the most part, are behind us.
Like most of you, I've been shuffling through the week. We drove east for Christmas, another 20-hour round trip. Thankfully, the weather cooperated and no one was sick. Since we've been back, I've been unpacking and doing the usual post-holiday cleanup. Sorting through mail, paying bills, rereading Christmas cards. Straightening up the Christmas wrap box and packing away extra cards & boxes. De-packaging the Christmas gifts and finding places for new things, like these great little dotty bowls from Molly. Can you believe she wasn't sure I'd like them? They remind me of those paper strips of candy dots from the 50s, always so visually appealing. (Although I do find myself reflexively spitting out paper shreds just remembering it.)
No big plans for the weekend beside relaxing with a pile of new gift books. Magazines, too, accumulated but ignored over the last couple of months. Maybe a movie. (Have you seen The Queen? I highly recommend it!) My blog needs some updating. Yikes, I haven't touched my photo albums in months. And, of course, there are all of those projects to be considered for the new year. Probably just what you've got planned, right?
*Isn't this a wonderful image? I loved it from the minute I saw it on Penelope's blog several months ago. She recently chose several of her illustrations to make available as prints and when I noticed this was included, I snapped one up. You can, too...her shop reopens on January 2. And, by the way, I used it here with permission. (You knew I would ask after my recent experience and Cara's, didn't you?)
