Deb asked to see our calendars this month and since it's her birthday today, how could I refuse? I normally don't participate in these *show me your...* blog things, but since I love my calendars, I decided to make an exception.
This calendar was a gift from Molly after I admired hers. We both loved the simple drawings that adorn the top of each page. When I'm sewing away, deep in thought over upcoming plans, just a quick glance will confirm three months' worth of dates. Looks like a quiet month, doesn't it? Um, not exactly.
The calendar above was another gift from Molly (who obviously knows what I like,) featuring the art work of Karen Hoepting, an American artist whose work is really popular in Japan. I have this hanging over my work table upstairs, where I sketch and plan projects among my books, magazines and art supplies. I'll be sorry to take it down soon, but I've saved the images (which are about 12" square) from past months and may do something with them.
Finally, this cute little calendar hangs in my kitchen, under the cabinet. It's only about 8"x9", just big enough for me to confirm a date when I'm writing out my checks. Each month features a piece of fruit with a superimposed smiley face drawn over the photo. I love all that Japanese cute stuff in the shops, but this is about the limit of what I can actually live with. I found it on a half-price table in a little shop in Tokyo last January. Hmmm...might it be time for a trip back to stock up on calendars for next year?

Thank you for the calendar pictures--they're lovely!

Oh, the first one is really nice and so Japanese...
I am buying mine in January/February (except the one with illustrations of Hajime Okamoto because I surely won't miss that), half price and always too many of them... I think it's fun to wait till they are on sale because then some, maybe your favourites, are sold out and you are forced to take a second look at those you haven't favoured in the first place. This way it's possible to discover the really interesting ones...
Thanks for showing us yours!

So adorable! The pumpkin one especially is delightful to me!
We make our calendars each year, so I am not sure if Deb wants one of our collaged family photos... certainly they are not drab novembers though... ;-)
