I was kidding myself about the shawl. Of course I couldn't finish it during Project Runway but I did bind off last night and after a bit of a panic, running around with a dripping wad of shawl trying to locate my blocking pins, it's finally pinned and drying. I think it's going to be exactly what I wanted. What a pleasant surprise.
Now that the shawl is finished, I'm itching to get something new on the needles. Of course, tomorrow is the start of Socktoberfest. (Where did September go?) I have my yarn ready, but need to decide on a pattern. And then there's Sandy's Warm Hands knitalong. I totally dropped the ball on that last year, but I'm back again for more. Again, yarn ready, but still on the fence regarding the pattern. While I was cruising around some Norwegian blogs this week (hint), I came across these handmade children's shoes. And she shares the pattern in a PDF! Thank goodness I don't have any children around now or I'd be dropping everything to try these. I love these stripes. How about this pair, Emily?
No knitting tonight...we have a business black tie event to attend. A pesky few pounds that I acquired over the summer has made the difference in the fit of my preferred fall dress so I will be pulling out my old standby tonight. I could easily go on a huge rant here about the newly ever-present bit of spandex in jeans and all manner of casual pants these days. Spandex lies! It tricks you into thinking those few small indulgences aren't making a difference. The pants still fit...the scale must be off a bit. Restraint and exercise...two more things to add to the list for October. Tomorrow. Ack.
